Default Model 17 Value

Just curious what forum members think about the value of a S&W Model 17-6 in excellent condition. I've been thinking about trying to find one to match my Model 16. Somebody on Gunbroker wants almost $1700 for one. I personally think that's WAY high.

WAY WAY HIGH imo. Lots of speculators looking for a prime sucker.
More like half of that.
Personally,I don't see any fired,model marked K frame 22 being worth more than a grand unless it's a lugless 617.

Agree with the comments on the price being high, I would start thinking about it around $800., and be inclined to spend somewhat less. And that would be for excellent condition.

Just looked at the SCS&W.... -6 some without the full lug barrel. Which is the one you are looking at???????????????

Wait..... you said "find one"! looking for a 4 or 6 inch?

I had a full lug 617 way to much gun (weight) for anything but the range..... got a 4".

Although I appreciate the Model 17 a lot,I wouldn't pay half that price for a used one.Up here in Canada and even with our Mickey Mouse money,I paid way less than half that price for a 17-3 for my daughter last year. And it has TT and TH.
Keep looking around;you should find a very good one for around $700.

I suspect that the OP is looking for a six inch full lugger.I had a 17-7 four incher full lug gun, which was pretty sweet.

Price seems way high. I have a 17-6 full lug 6" NICKEL in excellent condition, which is rare. Wouldn't put a value near that on mine.
