Default Help identifying a 38

I'm just wondering about this revolver. It is a 38 special. I may even be in the wrong area as far as age goes. This is the numbers off the bottom if the grip base. S 923665

Thanjs.

You have a 38 Military and Police (pre model 10) from the early post-war time frame... probably late 1946 or early 47. Looks nice. You will probably get more info in the 1896-1961 section. Your revolver dates about 10 years before S&W switched from names to model numbers. The rubber grips are not factory as your gun probably shipped with diamond center magna style grips.

...one line address and no ejector rod knob puts it in a pretty narrow time frame I think...possibly late '47...early '48...of course no transition is exact...
