Default Who made these grips?

Man, spend 6 months without the Internet and lots of things change on you. This is my own 627, and I always thought the stocks on it came from Altamont. I have a friend with an N-frame round-butt who wants similar stocks but for the life of me, I cannot find them online. S&W doesn't show them in their Store, and Altamont has similar looking grips, but not the same.

Before I went into dark mode, I remember seeing similar grips available for sale but now that I have surfaced, I am not finding these particular grips (or a reasonably close clone) anywhere. Anyone have an idea where to get a pair?

Do the grips have the S&W logo carved into them on both sides?

They look like the S&W Performance Center Grips.

Yes, they do have the logo on both sides. I'd just love to know where one orders another set of them. I can't find them listed on the S&W site, and I am pretty sure that I saw them available last summer....but that might just be bad memory on my part too.

They're made by Altamont but they're not offered to the general public and you won't find them listed on their website. A lot of the TALO specials come with custom grips like that one which have the cut out logo. You have to purchase the gun to get one. My 686+ TALO had a similar set but with snakeskin texture. A few years back I was able to make a phone order with S&W to purchase the set that came with their model 60 pro. The guy on the phone told me that they normally wouldn't sell them but that they had a few extras and he would help me out. If I remember correctly they cost me $55 plus shipping.

Okay, thank you. That explains a lot. Well, Altamont makes some nice looking stuff all the same, so my friend will just have to settle for "almost, but not quite". Thanks for the explanation!

I'm pretty sure were made by Altamont, but may no longer be in stock. I'd email Altamont and send a picture and ask. Worst they can do is say no.
