Default Some mighty fine Smith revolvers

The Smith revolver line, especially the "plus" models in .357, have become my most favored, and used models.

True, I still adore the Model 15 and the Model 10 of olden days as well as the early 586s and certainly the Model 24 or the .38/44s, but I do like the newer models.

And you know what, I don't even notice or think of the ILS which by now should be a non-issue.

I think those who fervently shun the ILS models are missing out. They should at least own one model in their favorite caliber. It's silly not to do so. They should shoot it a lot, a real lot with all varieties of loadings, treat it with no loving care.
And then decide its worth.

That's blasphemy 'round here. How can one increase the value of their old junk ifn they cain't dis the new stuff.

BTW, I love the locks, so much so that I've had locks added to my old collectables. On some guns, I've added a second lock with a different key. I've even swapped all the old forged parts for pristine new mim stuff.

My next gun is the 66-8 2.75".

I'm going to add service grips to it.

Beautiful.

I recently broke down and bought my first revolver with the internal lock. It's a 627 performance center with 5" barrel. I really like it.

I like many, prefer the older "CLASSIC" looking Smith revolvers. I don't know why I felt the urge to make this 1 mine. Glad I did. It functions quite well. I traded my last poly bottom feeder and cash to get it. Win, Win! Of course it needed different stocks. Bob

And me? Why, I have two piece barrel envy.
Looking to upgrade my pre-27 with something fancy, maybe a dizirconium scanvanadium nitrous oxide vapor-deposited with sheath in digicamo.

I guess I am not a purist. Most of my S&W revolvers are older and have no ILs but when I bought some new ones I didn't think twice about the ILs. This 4" M686+ is an outstanding fighting handgun, as is the 3", as well as the 2.5". They each have their place and the ILs don't even make me blink.

Okay, I'll toss in a couple of older ones for grins....all good fighting guns and I have carried every single one of them.

Pictures are not in order - sorry about that!

Well I guess I'm going to be the outsider on this one. I owned a late production Smith a while back and sold it but didn't learn my lesson. I have two in the safe now but have had nothing but trouble with them. I'm never buying another IL, MIM, floating firing pin, two piece barrel S&W again.

You all go ahead and enjoy them all you want. I regret wasting the money on these things when I could have bought something else, older.

Dave
