Default I DID IT! Model 69 on the way!

I finally talked myself into a online purchase, (my first) and decided on the 2 3/4" instead of the 4". Very hard decision in itself. I did alot of research here about what people are saying about the 69. I saw the 2 3/4" at the NRA and really liked it. I have many 44's and I think the 69 will meet all my big bore needs. Thanks for listening!

Congrats. The 69 got me almost excited enough when it came out to buy one. I just can't get over the silly lock on the side of the newer S&W's.

I was willing to overlook the lock for this gun and am glad I did. All the reviews I have seen so far are good. I'm still loving mine. Full magnum loads are rough, but doable if necessary. My favorite loads are Buffalo Bore heavy 44 Specials.

IMO People don't know what they are missing until they have shot a 44 special. I am really liking this caliber round and gun.

If you want a less expensive range load check out The 240 grain FMJ at 1000 fps from Georgia Arms (http://www.georgia-arms.com/44-rem-m...al-jacket-new/). Strong enough to be interesting but not as punishing as full power magnum ammo. It is my favorite load for my M69. Similar power as the beefed up 44 special from BB but at 1/3 the cost. And it comes in a magnum cases so you do not have to worry about crud building up.

Congrats! You'll love it. Ordered mine from grabagun and picked it up for a touch under $700 with shipping and transfer. Probably half the guns I've bought in the last 8 years have been online. Sometimes it's a deal, sometimes not.
Don't have a chrono but I'm guessing I'm pushing a 240gr. plated bullet to over 900fps out of that stubby barrel with my latest loads. Handles them well. The 69 was made for handloaders.
About that lock. Can't see it when you shoot it so don't worry about it.

I think you'll be pleased with the 69. It's the first S&W with a lock I've bought and it's at the top for favorites.

Thanks for your replys, still waiting for a call for pickup, Monday I guess, FYI I do cast and reload, last year I got 500 star line 44 special cases so I mostly shoot 44spl in my mags. Right now I mostly carry my CA bulldog, my 629-4 3" is a bit to heavy for edc. The bulldog is only 19oz. The 69 will be a welcome addition to my 44 family, and hopefully my new best friend.
