Default 686 Talo .357 5" Barrel

Just bought this gun on a whim. I have to stop going to Gun SHOPS!

I've always been drawn to the 5" Barrel. For those that have one in 5", What do you think? Not sure about the grips, but have not shot it yet.

I do have a 3" and a 4" as well.

Can send photos later.

I was torn between the 3" and 5". I went with the 3", but in hindsight I should have got the 5".

I have the 5" Talo. Really like it. Five inchers are my fav length. Mine's very accurate.

The barrel's canted but with the windage adjusted I can keep it in the bullseye.

Chamfered the muzzle on mine. Helped a little but it was already a good shooter.

I boxed up the factory wood grips & use Hogue's at the range.

Did I mention I like 5" barrels ?

Here are the pictures. Excuse the terrible lighting. Yes, those are Hogue Bantams on a 5". I am a big fan of the Bantams. Not sure when I will get to the Range, but I imagine its not much different than shooting the 4" or even the 3". The 5" tube and the unfluted cylinder really appeal to me. Life is good!

If I could only have one, it would be the 3"

I had a 5" unfluted Talo and liked it. But I like my 4" better. Sold the 5" to fund other projects, but it is a nice gun for sure..

I bought the 3" several months ago and really like it. Now my LGS has a 5" that calls to me everytime I visit. Sure wish someone would buy it to stop the madness. Especially now that I just got more gun habitat.

Are these grips that should have been on your gun? If so I though I would probably change mine until I shot the gun. I am not a fan of S&W wood grips but for some reason these are perfect for me. As for the 3", 5", or 7" version, to each his own. I have found my 3" to be very accurate at 75' indoors and tomorrow I am going to run it down to 50 yds. just for kicks.

I saw when when I went to buy my R8, should have bought the Talo and come back later for the R8.

Just saw this thread after closing out from the Georgia Outdoors Trader where a fella has a NIB TALO 5-inch 686. For a gun I didn't know existed I see two internet hits within minutes.

The 5" Talo 686 from the 3-5-7 series was my first 5" 357. I loved it from day one!
I liked the grips at first but eventually changed them to something larger.
The 3" is on my short list.
