Default S&W 64-5 Round or Square Butt?

Just wondering are all 64-5 round butts. Firing pin on hammer or frame?

In 95-96 the square butt was deleted. In 1998 (64-6 on) S&W changed to MIM hammer with floating (in frame) firing pin. Per SCSW 4th Edition

Well upon checking I have a 64-5 SA/DA model that is a square butt and I have a 64-5 DAO that is a round butt. So the first answer would be they made both.

Both have the firing pin on the hammer.

Round Butt, Square Butt, 2 inch, 6 inch, it doesn't matter to me. The Model 64 is just awesome! I have two, a 4 inch tapered, SB and a 2 inch RB. If I see another nice one in a different configuration, I'll probably take it home with me. They are versatile, accurate, durable and beautiful!

OK, to be totally transparent, I really like my Model 681 too!

Here's my 3 inch 64-5. All forged parts, just added the maple Ahrends retro bananas.
