Model 63 ,317,43 & 617 owners I need your help
I have a brand new 3 in 63. It shoots great and is super accurate but I've noticed on all chambers the brass bulges slightly by the rims where the extractor is. S&W customer service says it's normal as long as extraction is easy & no case rupture. Mine extracts great even after extended shooting. So my question is has anybody else experienced this?

Can't say that I have ever looked at spent cases out of the revolvers... still don't think I will. As long as it all goes smooth I worry more about fouling at the other end.

Model 617
I looked at some fired brass from my 617 and there is a VERY SLIGHT expansion of the casing around the extractor area of the spent cases. I have not experienced any difficulty with extraction. Since you say you haven't experienced any extraction difficulties, I suggest you just ignore it. That's what I plan to do.

CCI Stingers run at higher pressures. Using those? Joe

IIRC, there is a very very slight bulge in my spent .22 casings in my 63-5. Ejects fine, though.
Unless you are reloading .22 LR, I wouldn't worry about it.

My 317 and 617 have slight bulging but no problems . I did have an early production 317 that expanded the whole rear of the case and locked up the gun and S&W replaced the yoke and cylinder and it has been fine since but still has a tiny bulge that causes no problems and that gun now belongs to my wife.

I've tried inserting spent .22 cases into my GP100 .22 so I can dry fire, and they won't slide in all the way, I guess from bulging.
