686 4" With Magna Grips?
Anyone have any experience with putting small service grips on a 4" 686? Does it balance okay or should I hunt down a 3" barrel?

I think the balance will be fine but the only way to know for sure is to try it for yourself.

I prefer the larger target stocks or FG Combats since I have long fingers, The Magna stocks feel better than the pre war "Service stocks" but both are too small for my hand.
Barrel length affects balance but I would bet if you closed your eyes and changed from a 4" to a 3" barrel 686 with the same stocks you would be hard pressed to tell the difference, 4" to 2.5" is a bit more noticeable IMO

I myself, on the other hand, have tiny hands. 6" from wrist to tip of pointer. I got a chance to hold an older K-frame with service grips and liked the feel a lot. The 686 is rather barrel heavy so was curious if it would unbalance it.

I prefer Boot Grips. See photo. 5" has Hogue Bantam, 4" has Altamont Boot grip, 3" has Hogue bantam with finger grooves and pinky extension cut off. I am not a fan of large grips, but I have small hands, so the boot grips work for me.

Now that is a pretty collection. Thank you!
Out of curiousity, what's your favorite barrel length of those?
