Gotta sell some pistols
I have to start cleaning out the stuff (pushing 80 years) and here are a couple:
4" pinned barrel Kit Gun with blue box. Adjustable rear sight. Model 43 with numbers 668 on chamber swing out.
Mod. 37 Airweight, 2" numbers 3509 on swing out and also the numbers or code A2
Can you fellas give me some ballpark values so I can ask appropriate prices. Both are in very good shape, have been fired of course and have the walnut grips with embedded medallion.
Appreciate any assistance.

The s/n's will be found on the bottom of the grip frame. You may have to remove the grips to see them. The numbers and markings on the yoke (the part that swings out) are meaningless for the purposes of dating the gun or determining it's value.

Hard to tell without photos. Also, I'm not particularly competent on prices, but I believe that each is probably worth more than $400, especially the Model 43.
BTW, that Model 43 probably has a 3.5" barrel.

No Mod. 43 here
As far as I know it is a K-22 kit gun, the box is blue and in good shape. Don't know how the Mod. 43 got into the discussion. Both pistols are in very nice condition and I have shot both of them. Used the .22 for dog training.
All suggestions appreciated.

Pistolpal:
Your .22 cannot be a K 22 and a Model 43 at the same time. In your post #1, you say that it is marked Model 43 in the yoke area, and later, you say the serial number is 51424. This is in the range of the gun originally called the "1955 .22/.32 Kit Gun Airweight", until Model numbers were assigned in 1957. It was produced until 1974. They are pretty scarce, and would probably be worth more than $400, if in good condition.
The Kit Gun is a small framed gun, in this case a "J" frame. The K 22 is a larger framed gun, a "K" frame.
It seems to me that from what you have posted, that you have an early Airrweight Kit Gun,
Best Regards, Les

S&W Kit gun
Okay fellas, I don't know what's going on here but perhaps I made a typo mistake in the first post. It is a model 34!! and the ser.# is 51424. Pinned barrel, 4". Nice shape with medallion. I am not a gun trader or much of a seller so apologize. I think I transposed numbers in my first post.
The Airweight is Mod 37 with Ser. # J670102. Sweet little pocket pistol I can tell ya that!!
Thanks again-I believe I have it right this time.

A nice 4" model 34 with original box would be a fast sale at $500, average price about $600 or so. A pinned 2" barrel model 37, $350-450. This all dependent on exact condition.

I basically agree with Les on the 43, they are hard to come by and if yours is in excellent condition, I'd ask $700. Remember, having the box is a premium, also the fact that they're scarce to the market is a big plus. If someone feels it's too much, you can always come down but remember, a lot of guys will try to low ball you. I'd take it to a good pistol smith and ask his advice. He can set you straight on overall condition. I need to add one other thing, I'm almost 80 and still buying and shooting!

If they are in good shape (most the bluing, no significant defects, original grips):
Model 34 - $650-700
Model 37 - $400-450

Airweight and K-22
I will be happy to add some photos when I figure out how to do it. But for the most part, you fellas have given me good food for thought and I really appreciate it.
I happen to be very fond of the little Airweight but have convinced myself I need something with additional capacity.
I am not adept at selling things, including guns, and would likely take them to a dealer and see how reasonable his offers might be. I do not mind that he also needs to make money with them just so long as it is not TOO much money. Ha Ha!

Hey pal, you will not be happy with many shop offers. See if any in your area do consignment sales if you don't want to fool with selling them.

With all due respect, sir, if you have not needed additional capacity thus far, you are unlikely to in the future. You have an almost ideal carry gun there.

Put the word out that they are for sale, get a couple friends to tell people, then they will not last long.

I concur!! I carry a five shot Smith and Wesson every day, (well, almost every day) and feel secure. I have a feeling that you will not get a fair offer at places like Cabela's and so forth. Then if you buy a higher cap replacement, at retail, you will be in effect paying a pretty high premium for a gun that you are unfamiliar with, and will have to spend even more to build skill with. Just my opinion.
Best Regards, Les

S&W Kit gun-
Well fellas, I tried a couple of times to load pix of the little .22 but it not working. Has been a hectic day and maybe I'll try again tomorrow. As I said, I am not very good at most of this stuff but I DO have some nice instructions from one member and as soon as I can study them and get my %#$%& printer to work will try again. I HAVE the photos! Ha Ha Ha...just gotta get them to you.
I have learned both pieces are in better condition than I thought.
And I sure do get the point about carrying the little .38 again- it IS a perfect little "pocket pistol".
Thanks again.

pistol pix
What the heck!! There is a picture in my last message.
It's a MIRACLE! Ha Ha Ha
The awful "marks" you see are actually finger prints on a nicely oiled pistol

Hang around pistolpal!!!! You may find that you enjoy the fellowship here on the forum, whatever you may decide to do with your beautiful little guns. Nice Model 34!!! In that condition, you should be able to sell it quickly, but if I were you, I would hang onto it. They are not making anything like as nice a gun today. (In my humble opinion).
With the serial number that you gave, that is an early one, I would say just after they started assigning Model #s in 1957, but I'm sure that some real experts will be along shortly to opine.
Best Regards, Les

Model 34 .22
Thanks for the invite Les and your other help. I still don't understand HOW I got the picture into the message but I can slowly learn. It's unfortunate the photo makes the pistol look like half the bluing is gone forward of cylinder latch!! Ha Ha! Have not really looked at the pistol for couple years and had forgotten what a well made and nice little gun it is.

Seeing the picture in post_19 I tend to agree with the range above.

I have been selling down my stuff for the last couple of years. I'm 77. I have had the best result putting them on consignment to Locust Fork. (Kasey McKay) she sells on Gunbroker. I seem to get at least a $100 or more above what stuff normally sells for. Be advised there are some things that nobody seems to want like nice double barrel shotguns. Sold a Browning Sidelock (NIB), a Parker Reproduction, a Darne and a Merkle 47E (NIB). Took a real hit on them. Sixty cents on the dollar. Same with full stocked rifles.

Run away from the dealers if You can. If You want a quick sale, post them on this forum. I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would cherish those little-uns.
