I got my M66-8 back from S&W repair last Friday.
I checked the box on the FedEx tracking page to hold at their facility so I could pick it up on my schedule.
Happily, everything was nicely fixed.
Best,
Rick

Gunsmith in training at s&w PC center. No more old world craftsmanship. The powers to be think anyone off the street can be trained on the job as a gunsmith.
Relax, don't implode over it, let them fix it. We have a warranty.
My buddy always said relax it's a piece of metal and will be here when we're dead and gone.
On my last job I taught new fresh out of school engineers how we do it in the real world. They had no clue how things work. Now with new workers they need training in quality what's right and what's not right.

Well. Got it back.....Meh.
I 'guess' they fixed 'most' of the stuff.
I'll post pics in a bit when I get home. I guess an 8/10 isn't too bad for $1000

Instead of going out of business I wish they were to be purchased by people who really take pride in what they manufacture and want to be in this business. I've seen, read and heard about more PC guns having major QC issues in the last 12 months than I can ever recall. Right now S&W is just cashing in on their name and past reputation. If they don't clean their act up soon, I think people will start waking up! I woke up many years ago but unfortunately newbies are naive and just don't know what real quality SHOULD be.

Glad my brand new 625-8 PC seems to have come out alright. About only thing I notice is the gap line in between the crane and frame when shut. Would have liked to have had no gap there at all. Looks like the crane or frame was cut to give some room for error when shut instead of a tight fit.
Will be dumping the clown wood grips for factory rubber grips.

Fit and finish on the Ruger is worse in my experience these days

I hate to say it, but I believe what you have stated is true. S&W has been up and down in terms of quality over the years, even during what many people think of as the 'best' years, but lately they seem to be on a downward slide again. When bean counters run companies, this is often the result. Let's hope something happens at S&W to turn this trend around. The lesson that accountants need to learn is that quality measures don't cost, they pay off in terms of repeat and new customers. That was a lesson that almost cost the big three autos their lively hood.
