Default Need new screws

Just got a 629 DX Classic. Noticed someone buggered up the screws on the sideplate. Where do I get replacement screws?

Contact S&W, or check with Brownells or Midway.

I've posted this before, the screws can be re dressed if you can clamp them in a vise using lead as a barrier against the jaws vs the threads, Than use a hammer and gently tap the heads till the buggering gets "unbuggered" Than you can finish them ,especially the stainless variety with the correct grade of sand paper. I have been lucky on occasion for blued screws where I was able to match them with just a little cold blue.

This does work. If you find that you have peened the "buggered" part too far, you can dress the slot with a needle file that has a safe edge (i.e. an edge with no teeth on it to prevent cutting the slot deeper).

Repairing buggered slots is actually very easy, I can do it and I don't have any skill. I did have a cheap set of Swiss needle files.
Unless S&W sends them for free , I found the shipping charges on a screw were insane...I tried the above method and it works , I've fixed many a screw since then.

Gun_garage on EBAY. Just order a whole set and pop them in. Usually about $8 per screw.

I don't know about screws for your model but I have a M640
and I called Smith customer service and they sent me a set at no charge.

Lots of Ace Hardware stores now have gun screws. My local store has 5 drawers of gun screws. Sadly not the ones you need.

Eight American Dollars......for each screw.... that's insane , how much for the postage ?
Twenty dollars will get a set of Swiss needle files and they will repair a lot of screws.
I'm way to frugal not to repair them.
