Aim Surplus PICTURES ADDED
A little bit ago I got my weekly sales e-mail from Aim Surplus. They are offering S&W Model 19 4" Police Trade-ins (mostly -6 they say) for $375.95 plus shipping.
What the heck, at that price I ordered one!

Not sure if its permissible to post a link to the ad, but the pic shown looks pretty decent for LE trade ins. Ad says, "expect very functional revolvers with various amounts of holster wear". $379.95 seems very reasonable for a decent shooter. I'm guessing from the pics in the ad they will come with either Target grips or Hogues. Might even be a great candidate for sending back to the mothership for a refinish.

They sent me an email an hour ago, saying "only a few dozen available." I went to their site ready to grab my credit card, and they're sold out already. Oh well, I already have a 4" 19-2 I got from my range/LGS for $399. They say they were mostly 19-6, and unfortunately no way of knowing if you'd get rubber or wood grips.

I've bought more then a few guns from both Aim Surplus and Classic Firearms. More often then not I've been pleasantly surprised.

I went and picked up my 19-6 4" today. Serial Number BDF27XX. It has a great bore...
Did I mention a great bore? To say there is "some" holster wear would be an understatement. A lot of holster wear is more like it. Very dark stocks; right ear of rear sight looks like it was used to hit something...hard! The number 1200 is pencil engraved on the frame and is only visible when the cylinder is swung out - that's a positive note!
I'll take some photos later - someone mentioned a candidate to send back to S&W for refinishing...just might do that!
I also picked up a 1948 M&P marked on the left side POLICIA NACIONAL DE COLOMBIA Serial Number range C804XX on butt, cylinder, and barrel flat. Once upon a time a beautiful blue gun. Pictures to follow as well....

Yep, I was too late on this AIM deal too.....
Filled out a 'email me when available' thing, but have little expectation.
Good find!

I got mine last week from AIM
I got mine last week from AIM. In addition to the etched number like the OPs revolver, mine has the same etched number under the top strap and another very faint number etched above the more legible one.. Just FYI. Mine is also a 19-6, but with serious holster wear. The chambers and barrel are absolutely pristine though. Lock up and timing are excellent as well. Does anyone have an idea of the department or institution that this batch may have come from?

If you prefer a clean finish, these guns would be good candidates for a finish like Metalloy.
How do the forcing cones look on these?

I got one within 10 minutes of the email from AIM, they were gone a few minutes later. I was impressed for the price, with he exception of the electropencilled "police marking"...a number....inscribed on the right side of the receiver. So much for my $10 hand pick. The stocks are really nice, though. Sent it back to Smith expecting their custom shop to do their magic, and 2 1/2 months later they hadn't even looked at it, despite my making multiple calls out to them. I finally tossed in the towel and had it shipped back to me. Just got it back today after a week and a half of waiting...I'm not impressed by their service. Probably will sell it now, I bought one of the new Colt Cobras, it's coming to my FFL tomorrow, and the wife wants me to sell something to help pay for it. Oh well...
