Default Couldn't leave the 69 alone

The black side plate screws bothered me the most for some reason. Found them in stainless on Midway, then noticed they had the cylinder release in stainless also. Add to the order!

The only thing else I'd like stainless would be the ejector rod. Haven't looked into that yet. Have the F.O. front sight also to change. Forgot to order drill bits!
If the thunderstorms hold off I'll be at the range this afternoon with more handloads to try out. This is one entertaining revolver.

Looking good! I'm considering the tritium sights. Looks like you just replace the red insert in the front sight and the blade in the rear. Anybody try these?

Grips look great too! Was just starting to not be bothered by the black cylinder release on my 66-8 2.75, might have to do some shopping over at midway. Did the side plate screws match as well as the cylinder release?

That 69 looks sharp!

I agree Collo. I like my stainless guns to have matching parts. I don't mind the contrast of the blue trigger and hammer, and of course the sights should be blue, but the other things make it seem that the gun was put together from parts that were laying around. I'm not the guy they make pintos for!

Well.. I ordered the screws and they are bright, shiny stainless. They kinda stand out on the bead blasted finish, but my 627 has the same screws with the bead blasted finish. I didn't think to look for bead blasted screws.

I am getting used to the black accents - to the point I don't think of them as somehow not quite right. In fact, yesterday I actually thought they looked pretty good.

I replaced the screws in a model 65 that the previous owner marred up. Took the bright screws and rubbed with a brown scotch bride pad. Took the gloss off and they look a lot better.

Looks much better without the black " accents", imo.

Is that a two piece barrel?

The M66-8's and the M69's both have two piece barrels, but they are new generation designs. Their is nothing that shows from the side. From the front, it just looks like a recessed crown.

Best,
Rick
