Default Traded a Glock 42 for 686

So do you think I did good? I think so, even with the inflated prices of the G42 in Ca. The G42 was new. 686 came in the GunGuard case but no box.

I believe you did very well and would make that trade any day.

Those Glocks, while a good gun - are a 'Dime a Dozen' easy to find, and still in production.

The Smith that you traded for is an example of some of the best revolver craftsmanship and no longer made that way anymore. With care it should only increase in value.

Its a 686 no dash

It was a bit on the dirty side with a little corrosion around the forcing cone but it cleaned up nicely.

I don't think the Glock 42 is on the california approved list.

SO they are not a dime a dozen...

That is true, not on the roster. These are called "off roster", they fetch a premium.

There is that. You are correct. I posted without looking at his location.

Greatly increases the value of his trade due to supply and demand and the value of a good CC gun in that environment.

Prelock Smiths are very valuable in CA as well. I still say he made a great trade.

Congratulations! Did you even have to ask? I have a 586, no dash 4", a 686-3, 6" & a 686-6, Pro-Series, 5". I am sure you will get more enjoyment out of shooting the SMITH! Bob

That's actually a pretty scarce example with the adjustable front sight. Ya done good! Just curious, how much did you have in the Glock?

Stevie--You are gonna regret trading away a fine gun like a Glock 42..

Tell you what l will do for a fellow Forum buddy.. It just so happens l have

a Glock 42 NIB.. I will trade you EVEN for the 686 Silh.

Pay shipping/transfer fees on BOTH guns.. Send that 686 on..l will feed it

Good home made boolits. Scented ones at that

California rules are Byzantine at best. I would certainly make that trade, even if a recall were pending. Worst case is not to run .357 through it, which I can't do anyway (arthritis).

I got the G42 with intention of using as CCW, then the Peruta lawsuit got shut down. Living in Los Angeles county now virtually impossible for a CCW.

Once I get out of this state when I retire will consider the G42. Then again when out of state my Smith 642 carries well. Also have a Sparks holster on order for my 3913 NL, so that may take its place.

IMHO this beautiful 686 is worth 1, 2, 3... new Glock 42s. Heck, if it were mine I won't trade it for 10 such Glocks.

Things are upside down in California if such trades take place. Let's say Toyota Corollas get banned. Then see someone trade a new Toyota Corolla on a pristine classic Mercedes 300SL Gullwing and then going to a Mercedes forum to ask if they did well in trade. Well, d'oh!
Oh, not stamped with "M", so I guess its a paperweight. lol.... Will need to load up some hot reloads and see what happens.

Most of my reloads are the powder puff variety. Whether its for my K,L or N frames. My wrists/hands enjoy the lighter stuff these days.

So I was not too concerned with the recall. As you say, I would hate to send back that revolver and have something bad happen to it.

GREAT trade. I just happened onto a 686 no dash 6" a couple months ago and so far I love it. Here is the gun and a 50 yard target. About the best open sight handgun group I ever got.

Even considering the rarity of your glock in CA, you go the right side of that trade. Congrats!
