The Long and Short of S&W's model 66
I have always been a huge fan of the Combat Magnum, so it was an important milestone for me when I was able to complete a collection of every barrel length of the model 66 not long ago with the addition of a 66-1 left by my late grandfather. I thought you would all enjoy seeing the model 66 family. 3 of the 4 are post 1982, so I thought I'd share the collection here. I still consider all of these old style, even the ones not P&R, because they all have the flash-chromed hammers and triggers and pre date the change over to case colored parts on the stainless guns. They also all have the older style rear sight assembly. All have boxes except the 3". I hope you enjoy!
2 1/2" Model 66-3
3" Model 66-3
4" Model 66-2
6" Model 66-1 (my grandfather's gun, one of the 6 1/8" barrel models described in SCSW)

You've done well! The P&R models were only available in the 6 1/8", 4", and 2 1/2" models, so you still have something to shoot for if you choose. Even so, you have a quite nice collection of this great revolver series. Congratulations!

Well, actually there are two more barrel lengths, the 4.25 and 2.75 inch dash eights.
Best,
Rick

This is as close as I come to a complete model accumulation.
They are a 6" 66-2, 4" 66-2 and 2-1/2" 66-4. The two longer-barreled ones have target triggers and hammers, the 4" has a trigger stop and the 6" has a Millett rear sight (boy, are those things hard to find these days). Just can't bring myself to part with what 3" versions are commanding, especially for a gun I'll probably never shoot. I've never shot that 2-1/2" one as snubbies just aren't my thing.

Pretty common stuff. No use posting until you can show us a Super K in that collection.
