Nice find at gunshow
I seldom go to gunshows but decided to go a local one early Saturday morning just for something to do. I mean after all, there is usually no really good deals to be found, right? Well, I came across a table with a gentleman (non dealer) selling a couple handguns. One of them was this excellent condition 29-5 Classic with a 5" barrel, original box and unopened cleaning kit. Turn line and one small mark, otherwise like new. Best part..... $550.
Yeah, I'm happy, and gonna start frequenting more gunshows.
Jim

A 5" barreled, full underlug, a m29-5 classic for only $550? Excellent condition, with unopened cleaning kit, box too. Now ask us if you did good?
Go home and clean the bottom of your shoes.

Oh, I know I did good! It was hard not to drool while I was checking it out. As the seller was starting to telling me what a nice gun it was and how it was hardly shot and so on, I just blurt out I'LL TAKE IT! Didn't even try to talk him down on price...

I don't go to the Denver shows much anymore. I used to go somewhat frequently looking for good deals but after about fifteen years without finding any I pretty much gave up going.
My wife probably didn't mind me going to the shows. I usually took about a thousand dollars cash with me in case there were deals to be had and always came back home with pretty much the same amount of money I left with that morning.

I like the grips on this 44 Magnum.
Less pain and muzzle rise.

I'm not that big a fan of N-frames or full lug barrels but, for $550 even I would have hopped.

Seems you fell into that deal? And at a gun show no less. Now that is not normal.
Congrats on that steal.

That is a great score! Congratulations! Just proves that there are still good deals out there. Persistence pays off.

Excellent gun show score. Sounds like you were one of only a very few that strolled by that table. Nobody in their right mind who noticed that gun would have passed that up !

Nice! That was a fantastic deal and you got the box and cleaning kit with it. My thoughts are you were the first show attendant to walk past that table and look past the rubber grips and see that hunk of prelock full lug blued goodness. For some reason, the late 80's and 90's revolvers with rubber grips seem to go unnoticed by the typical gun shopper. Which is totally fine by me!
I probably would have kept my cool though once I knew the price and offered him 5 one hundred dollar bills, fully prepared to pay his asking price if not. Never hurts to ask.

I had a 629 just like it for a while. Great guns! 5" is my favorite barrel length in an Nframe.

Gun shows are like a box of chocolates you never know what you will find even down to the last table. I would go on Saturday looking at a gun show. Then I would return on Sunday to browse again. My best finds are on Saturday afternoon and Sunday before 12pm. But you need to stay browsing your LGS too.

Dang. I have seen them for $250 more than what you paid and not in nearly nice shape. Congrats. I just got a 6 1/2" -5 full under lug, I love it....but the 5" is nice.
