Default New 442 Inbound

I know the new snubbies are probably not that exciting, but I sold my Ruger LCR after I saw one that self-destructed.
I work part time in the local gun shop and range. I get to handle all the firearms, of course.
Many of the new Smith J-frames have horrible triggers.
One of the new 442s in the case had a remarkably nice trigger so I snagged it. I always want a light snubbie for CCW. So this is my replacement snubbie.
I use Buffalo Bore non plus P 158 grain SWC rounds.
Not sure why there seems to be such a difference in the triggers from the factory. This particular one had a trigger at least as nice as one of the Perf Center guns.
Picking up today.

I love my 442! It is the most carried gun I own. Always in my front jeans pocket. Speer Gold Dot 135 gr, +P (short barrel) and carried in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster. Also has C.T. LG-405 grips. 5 spare rounds in a Lobo drop pouch on my belt.

442 is one of the best priced, most underrated ccw snubs on the market, congrats.

Yep, the 442 is a great Summer carry for me.

It used to be my summer carry, but now it's creeping into "all-the-time" carry for the last year or so. I have a lot of confidence in that little gun.
Unless I have a particular reason or task for another, that's what usually tags along.
Good choice.

I've carried & shot Js for well over 40 years and have complete confidence in them. My current EDC is the 340PD that replaced the 340M&P that replaced my 442.

Nice find. Triggers do vary and it is really nice to find one that makes you smile. Invest if a holster or two, or three, that allows you to carry it in a variety of ways. In all my snubbies I use Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 135 gr. ammo. I have not tried Buffalo Bore but I know they make very high quality ammo. I like the fact you realize you do not need +P ammo. Your followup shots will be much more accurate.
Post pics and a range report when you have time.

Just ordered myself one for my family to give me for Father's Day. I have shot several hundred rounds through it but I'm yet to carry it. I don't shoot it as well as my 60 but I've also shot thousands more rounds through the steel

25+ years of J-frames here. Every collection should have one. This time of year, my 340PD gets more carry time than the rest of my collection combined.

Congrats on the 442. Just an FYI I have over 6K plus P and magnum through my LCRK with nary a failure so I would love to hear more details on this self destruct. That being said, I prefer to carry the 442-1

The trigger is issue one reason I recently acquired a nearly new 442 no dash. Made about 20 years ago, with forged internal parts. The trigger was better than the current 442-1 examples I tried. The Nickel finish was another reason I bought it.
