Default Question on model 36

I looked at a model 36 (silver) serial number AAU40xx. I can find no number like that in my book (3rd edition) Can anyone tell me anything about it. It is a no dash? Thanks Ron

According to the 4th edition, the AAU prefix means 1984 production. If it doesn't have the 3" barrel it would be a no dash.

It is a snub nose. and has the hammer broke off, the man said he had 300.00 in it. Do you think that would be a good deal? Ron

Is the hammer really broken or did someone bob it (cut it off) to make it easier to carry? If it is broken I would worry that it was dropped and would wonder what other damage it has inside. If it was bobbed and done nicely then $300 wouldn't be too bad but I'm in California and our prices run higher than the free world.

If the M36 is "silver" colored it's nickel platted and the factory product code is 101506.

Default Model 36

Thanks for the information it has been a big help! Looked at the gun again today and the cylinder is just a bit hard to swing out, also the front sight has a small flat spot where it hit, so I shall let this one go!! Thanks a bunch! Ron
