Default Who makes S&W factory black grips??

I brought a new S&W no lock 642 last year. I really like the stock S&W black grips that comes on it. I'd like to grab a set for my other revolver(SP101). Does anyone know if this is a factory S&W product, or a rebranded grip from another company. If so....who makes them for S&W?

Very easy to find on a certain auction site. I got two sets there. I think that I paid $25 each.

It's my understanding that S&W makes 'em.

There are plenty of aftermarket grip/stock makers. You should be able to find something close. Do a search for SP101 grips. Bob

S&W has not made grips in many years. I believe they stopped in the late 90's

You may end up with Uncle Mikes grips for that Ruger. The factory grips on the 642 are genrally referred to as "boot grips".

You might want to look at the Packmayr Diamond Pro for your Ruger. I have them on my Model 60 and like them alot-better than the stock SW grips!

When I had my sp I found grip options limited. I always wished i could have found a set like the uncle mikes boot grips smith once used. I think the fact they are retained by the pin in the middle limits options.

I would tend to think that if it wasn't Hogue, then one of the other major rubber grip makers is responsible.

I dimly recall S&W saying the grips are made in their Houlton plant.

Went back & looked it up in the archives.
Made in the same factory where the polymer frames are made.

Uncle Mike's makes one style, the smaller ones with the rounded bottom. I think Hogue makes the bigger style, that's flat on the bottom. Those are the rubber grips, the wood type I'm not sure, other than Hogue.

For the Ruger sp, I've got the pachmayer diamond pro. It gives a place for the little finger. But there's also a similar boot grip available, if you like that tiny style.
