Photobucket strikes again. The most popular replacements seem to be Imgur and tinypic.

New rule: Hosting pics on Photobucket means no one else can see them.

Not sure what packing you're referring to, but for backpacking I really like my 329PD. I like the flexibility of shooting 6 specials or magnums, which the 296 or 396 doesnt provide.

I went with the M69 for my outdoor excursions. It's heavier than the 329PD but smaller. I don't mind the weight to help tame recoil (the 329PD with full mag loads is not fun for me). M69 only holds 5 rounds of 44mag/spl, but I doubt anyone other than Jerry Miculek could get of more than 3 rounds if they were charged by a bear, have you ever emptied a 44magnum as fast as you can? Follow ups are not exactly fast. And I figure if you can't do it in 5, you probably can't do it with 6 either. Unless there was 6 wolfs stalking you, lol.

Also, don't think a 44 Special wont penetrate as much as a magnum. I am a fan-boy of both calibers. Often the slower bullet goes deeper and ammo selection is key. I have heard of people taking down bears with 45acp (I read it on the internet so it has to be true) and the 44spl is the slimmer brother to the 45acp. If 44spl was good enough for Elmer Keith it's good enough for me. Oh wait, Elmer pushed S&W and Remington to make the 44 magnum didn't he? Hmm. But there are some pretty hot and effective 44spl ammo on the market now-a-days.

But everyone has their own needs and I bet any of the guns mentioned will do the trick.

Maybe he's trying to show us one of these. Anyway, a perfect packing 44 in my book.
