Default K Frame Purchase Help

I have yet to call customer support because the last time the woman was a real jerk. I need to purchase 50 guns now and then 50 more in six months for a security contract. I was hopping for stainless 4-inch in 38 special. My question is if the 64 still has that two piece barrel? I could go to the 67 but adjustable sights sometimes break and the model 10 will rust more. I did call Ruger and if I am willing to order the 100 now they will make GP-100 in 38 special. With the Ruger holsters cost about $50.00 more each.

On a 100 gun order I would ask for a supervisor in sales. An order of that size should get some respect. I don't know which models now use 2 piece barrels, but why is that a factor. I don't see a real problem with them, although on a straight up fix sight utility gun a one piece does make sense. Also, while adjustable sights do break, if people are breaking the sights they are also the type to mess up other things. I like adj sight guns and have yet to break a set in about 45 years of shooting revolvers.

I couldn't agree more, even at a discount an order that size is likely at least $50,000. How can any company be rude to a customer like that?

Depending on who the guns are assigned to I can see the case for fixed sights, I wouldn't want one guy to adjust it and then the next person has no idea whether or not anything's been changed.

Like luis I'm also no fan of the two-piece barrel and would prefer to avoid it. Especially for a .38 I don't see the point. (In fact if I was ordering that many I'd request one other change too but I'd rather not derail the thread...)

It's hard to believe that in today's business climate a company would tolerate rudeness to any customer but a possible 100 gun sale yea you definitely should get lots of respect.Go to the next level beyond just a sales person get at least to the VP level then you will be talking to someone serious .

The model 64 is not listed on the S & W website as currently available. I suppose it doesn't mean they could not be assembled from existing parts, but...

Have you tried contacting some of the large distributors to see what is available in existing stock? If you have dealt directly with the factory before that is great, but I am not sure they do a lot of direct sales to LE or security agencies; likely they would go through a distributor anyhow, and you may save time looking for what is already produced and for sale.

Must the guns be new? There seem to be large numbers of used model 64s (and 67s, but fewer) on the retail gun market; they would have to be inspected, test fired and potentially repaired but overall might save you a lot of money, buying in bulk quantities at $300 or so each. Understand completely if you or the company wants new for the warranty, liability and all that.

Op, when you talk to S&W tell them you want a Product Code 162506. That's the current production 4-inch M64 with a one piece barrel. It will be a -7. (The 2-piece barrel gun is a -8). Every M64 ever made has had fixed sights and chambered 38 Special only, so your good there.

Actually, I'm kinda surprised that S&W would get directly involved with such a small order. Last I heard is you needed 5,000 or more to buy direct. I'd thought by now they would of put you in touch with a distributor that specializes in Police Sales. That's probably who you should be dealing with, and why you getting such a poor response.

Sadly the contract calls for new production. I can get all the used 64s I want at $200 each. The current generation of two piece barrels is fine for most. When you issue guns then tend to get banged a lot and the outer shroud suffers a lot. Also every once in a while you get one of the guns breaking at the barrel. I was once shooting my 3 inch when the barrel flew off to the target.

Normally S&W will not take direct sales of less than 250 unless you are an established customer. We are allowed to order 50 or more at a time.
