What's the value of 29-5 Classic 6 1/2 barrel.
What's the value of 29-5 Classic 6 1/2 barrel no box very good condition 90% and 400 rounds. He is wanting 800. I just don't really understand a classic 29 with a full under lug?

That's not a bad price in my opinion.
The Classics are great revolvers. I have both full underlug and half-lug 44 Magnums just for variety. I wouldn't part with any of them.

I'll agree with 629shooter about the price too. That's not a bad price at all for a 29-5 Classic with 6 1/2" barrel. I have it's stainless steel counterpart, a 6 1/2" barrel 629-3 Classic and just love it. I find the full lug barrel really helps control muzzle flip with stout loads.

great catch...
I had one that I very foolishly traded in. It had a super smooth action, one of the finest post vintage guns I felt. The barrel is a bit front heavy and the round but grip was small for me...other than that it was fantastic in terms of blue quality and fitting. To give you an idea, a dealer gave me 850 for it as a trade. Offer 700 and run.

Around here, $850+ for the 29C alone. If seller includes 400 rds factory ammo then I'd suggest that you work out a deal, assuming you want to own one of S&W's finest revolvers. The mid-90's 29 Classic is arguably among of the best N-frames S&W ever produced. For me it defines "Smith & Wesson" and fits nicely in the N-frame lineage that began in 1908 with the introduction of the New Century Triplelock .44.
I bought a used 29-6 Classic with 6-1/2" barrel waaay back in 1998. After fixing some internal issues it proved to be a tack driver. I still have it and wouldn't part with it. The extra weight of the full lug on the longish barrel makes for smooth shooting. Just for fun my buddies and I had a "long range" match at a machine gun shoot to see if anyone could hit a big steel plate out at 600+ yards with a handgun. After a couple ranging shots I managed to ring that gong consistently. The fun part was waiting 3 seconds to hear the report. What a hoot.
Big Blue, my first N-frame:

Welcome to the FORUM! For more ideas on value, search on Gun Broker for what "like guns" actually sold for. Bob

I picked it up today. I ended up paying 750. for pistol 473 rounds and he gave me at Elpaso saddler belt and holster he had for it. I'm kinda bummed the belt doesn't fit lol I need to gain weight. Oh well i'm happy looks nice with all my 357 revolvers.

Great grab! Full lug on that barrel length is ideal. In my opinion. You'll see when you start shooting it.
