500 magnum frame gouge
I took my 500 out today and was looking at it and noticed there were a couple gouges between the yoke and the frame on the front and was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or what I could maybe do about it, the gun is only about 6 months old so it's not from wear and tear. Maybe It's just me but I think that a new gun that has barley left the gun safe should still be darn near perfect and then part of me says just live with it

Maybe a fine scotchbrite pad rubbed on the radius then finish with Flitz compound or something similar. Another option would be to send it back but it should not be there.

You sure it wasn't there when you bought it? I certainly don't think it's worth sending it back to S&W. Don

I agree with Don but man WTH?? Looks like someone was trying to pry the crane out with a screwdriver. The fit isn't as close as it should or normally be. Almost as if the cylinder and crane were used from a different gun. I looked at my 500 and 460 and they are tight and machine match. I keep looking at the photos and its just not right. I agree trying a scotch brite but it will never go away. If you purchased it new, It wouldn't hurt to contact Smith and Wesson and see what they say by your photos before trying to fix it yourself. Cant hurt. Vic

Be careful with sending it back for cosmetic issues. You run the risk of them sending You back a real Lemon that shoots around corners.

Or they might send you an incredible gun that shoots like a laser.

I'm not sure if it was there when I first bought it or not,I just recently noticed it though and I think I'm either gonna see if smith and Wesson helps me out with it or just sell the gun and get another but with interchangeAble muzzle breaks

Looks like only cosmetic damage to me.
If you want one with a removable comp just sell the gun as is for a fair price. I doubt someone would not buy the gun because of that blem.

I realize it's just cosmetic. That pic where the cylinder is swung out really shows the imperfection. That would bother me a lot but I'm real picky. That's one I would call S&W about.
