Smith and Wesson Governor Warranty Repair
So I had to send my brand new Governor out because the bluing on the cylinder was not properly applied at factor. Given the fact that bluing was splotched and rubbing off with only 75 rounds and under a couple months, I was pretty disappointed and expressed this over the phone. The first customer service rep was pretty rude when I asked about a gift card or check to cover refinishing locally (didn’t want to be without it long), he actually repeatedly cut me off. When I asked for a supervisor, he refused a few times before giving in. The supervisor agreed to make a note to just swap the cylinder and send it back to cut down on time.
Today, I called to check on the status (2 weeks in). They inform me that it’s finished, but they’re not sending it back to me until next Wednesday. Why would they let it sit before sending it back?1
Just thought I’d express my frustration with the gun and discontent with the turnaround on a brand new, $800 gun.
I actually went into the store to look at The Judge, but was swayed by the Smith and Wesson name and a couple other things.
I really love the gun, but I wish they’d get it back to me!

I guess the point is that it’s sitting there finished and not shipping. That and the fact that after my experience and reading the experience of others here, it looks like the QC of Smith and Wesson is slipping. Why spend $800 for a Smith that needs to go in immediately instead of a Taurus that may or may not have the trouble for $350. Heck for $350, I might not have bothered sending it in for a refinish.
Is Smith and Wesson still ahead of most of the others in the revolver department?

The shop has been closed for 2 weeks for vacations and re tooling. It opens again next week, which is why they will do a final inspection and ship your gun back.
I hope it comes back ok. You got the black one I assume when you say bluing? Mine only has a small chip but beyond that the finish seems ok so far.
I heard that Smith will do a complete re finish once per gun, not sure if thats what they did or not.
As for me, I actually got mine from Davidson's and if I ever have a problem they just give me a brand new identical gun and take the bad one. I prefer that to warranty work. Unless of course you prefer to have the same gun back.

Forgot about that, even though I had read it elsewhere. Makes sense why they would tell OP it wouldn't ship until next week, though it would have been nice if they had mentioned it themselves instead of making it sound like they were just being lazy about shipping it. Still, a three week turn around, especially considering the two week shut down is pretty darn fast!

Maybe it needs to sit for a while to sink into the metal?
Colt had my detective special for six months so I think the OP is ahead of the game.

Yup, I do mean black. It was only the cylinder and was very abnormal wear. Like weird splotches where the finish wasn’t applied properly. Like I said, it was barely used. All they did was swap the cylinder. I need to find a gun dealer like Davidson’s. I like that policy.
