RHKP Model 10s..
I've seen people mention 10-5s through 10-9 for these. I guess there was more than one order of them. I just picked up a 10-9 RKHP #9529. Neat guns with a story. This one is in great shape with a tiny but of holster wear at the muzzle but what I found interesting is that the blue is almost completely worn off the ejector rod. I guess the person who carried this one emptied it every night.. I just wonder where it was actually carried. I'd have expected to see an importers mark but there isn't one that I've been able to find.
Pictures added.. Last pic of some mystery "goo" that is under the grips. Some odd waxy peanut butter consistency goo.. Not sure what that is. Never seen that inside a SW before (or anything else for that matter).

We really like pictures!! This sounds like a great variation, and I'm sure that I speak for many others who would like to see a couple of pictures, especially the RHKP markings.
Best Regards, Les

If it was traded back to S&W and S&W then sold it through distrubutors, no import marks, like the ex Austrailian police M10's
I think that the Hong Kong M10's came in over a varied time frame with various import regulations

Added some pictures to the OP. Anyone see the "mystery goo" inside a frame before? Not sure what that is but there is a lot of it in there. Some kind of preservative maybe? Like a modern cosmoline.

I'm guessing the Mystery Goo is a type of grease. Have you had the side plate off to see what is under there?

I have not popped the plate off. I guess I should though. Might do that while I'm cleaning up the goo..

Nice find there! I came across one six or seven years ago, funny story about the purchase. Saw it at a LGS and asked to see it, well now a RHKP, I checked it out and as the price was reasonable I was going to say I'll take it. When the counter man came over and said some one stamped their initials on the back strap and he could do better on the price. I pretended to ponder the new info and asked how much, a deal was made and I made off with it. No pics of it as they went down with my old computer. Enjoy that one!
Oh, a bit of an explanation might be in order. In other more friendly LGS's I would have said no they are not someones initials there and would tell em what is was and they have a fair price on it. That LGS was not one of them. There got that off my shoulders.

At least this is one I won't feel bad about taking to the range and putting some rounds through.

Those M10s gave good service to those boys in the Orient. Very cool guns, with an interesting history. Cherish it, it "don't hardly get na' better'n" a .38 S&W Special K-frame with a rich past to boot!

Thanks for posting the pictures...that is a great gun with a great past. I'm sure that you or H Richard is correct about the goo, just grease or a cosmoline, you should probably be happy, probably stopped rust from forming. I would just remove the stocks and sideplate and scrub out the inside, lightly relube and I'll bet it will be a great shooter as well as a great collectible.
Best Regards, Les

My dad had one. He bought it to commemorate his shore patrol service in Hong Kong in the early 60's. He wrote a letter to the RHKP Chief in the 90's to ask for an official lanyard, which he received, along with a very nice letter. I gave the whole package to his brother my uncle after dad died in 2014 as a memento. Wish I'd kept it.

Its General Tso's sauce!
I missed out on a Colt RHKP, I think it was a Police Positive. The clerk at Gander Mountain didn't know what the RHKP stood for. I went back for it the next day and it was gone. I think he bought it.
I bought a 10-? RHKP a few years ago. It has plenty of character so I know it didn't sit in a drawer. I like it as it is. I like the mystique of it being in China. Wish it could talk.

On the show, Hong Kong, 1960-61, the cops had Webley MK IV .38's.
Anyone know when the M-10 replaced those?
Colt discontinued the Police Positive (not the PP Special) after WW II, so I wonder when those were used?

Seems like all the RHKP model 10s I've seen were from the 80's.
