Nice looking but I bet you know it when shooting .357s.

gnystrom,
I do not get the post. Why are you calling this a NEW model?

Except for the fact that they changed the color of the grips on this one, I have been shooting a identical Model 360 for about a decade.

The factory supplied grips did not matter to me as I equipped the revolver with some Crimson Trace grips as soon as it arrived

No it is not FUN to shoot 357 Magnums in, but it is easy to carry as are all of the Scandium framed snub nosed Magnums from Smith and Wesson .

I also have a 360 in .357 from 2001 which has a Ti cylinder. Perhaps the unfluted steel cylinder makes this a "new" variant?

Correct. Variant is the perfect word. This is for those of us that like the look unfluted cylinders.
To the best of my knowledge S&W has not offered this option in a production j-frame snubbie.

Good catch. I missed noticing the unfluted cylinder when I went to the link

While I do not think of Model 360s as collectible . . . 60+ years ago I bet our predecessors never thought of the model 60 as a collectible either

I've always been disappointed in my 360 Sc (2001 vintage). It's been back to the plant 2x and they've not been able to correct the side-to-side wiggle (whatever!) when the hammer is down in the fired position. My later 340s do not suffer from this drawback but it has caused me to look askance at my 360Sc for 16 years.

Colt_SAA: no SHOT show this year? Have always looked forward to your reports! Good shooting!

Those look like new grips to me, not just new color. I screamed as loud as I could at S&W over that original stupid rubber grip that left the metal backstrap exposed. This little beast has more punishing recoil than all the 44 mags put together.
That new rubber grip looks to be covering the metal backstrap. If so, that is a huge change and would make it appear S&W is listening.

I love mine and wear it backcountry every trip.

True, but that grip covers the backstrap with a VERY thin layer of rubber that offers little "give" on firing. I have 2 or 3 of these grips: they sit idle in a box while the boot grips do the work.

Did a very subjective test on a new 340PD. I tried virtually all of the RB-J grips I have, quite a few. None offered any recoil cushioning over the boot-style grips, YMMV. So it's back to the UM boots or the S&W knock-offs on the little thundermugs.

P.S. I could have installed the Pach Compacs but they are too bulky for me and would weigh down this gun too much in a pocket.

I use the Pachmayr Diamond Pro grips on my 360J 2-Tone .357 Mag. at the range. They do add some bulk but only a couple tenth of an ounce, IIRC.

Otherwise, it wears the Bagders.

Those new brown grips are ugly.

I kinda like the look of the unfluted cylinder on the new variation it's nice to know S&W us still trying to innovate in their revolver line . I just might get me one of them but that 2 tone of bluedot37s is a head turner for sure man you guys have great taste in guns.
