Default New 642 Pro

I just took delivery of a new 642 Pro Series w/moon clips. On the end of the box is 072017 which I assume is the born on date. I also noticed there is no fired case enclosed. Is this normal now? Serial is DJF6102.

They no longer send fired cases with new firearms unless a state requires it.

...and in each of those areas, there is a file cabinet full of these fired casings in their little envelopes which will sit until time immemorial as they will be of no use in solving a crime or making anyone safe(r).

I bet a handloader could make good use of these casings!

P.S. BTW, that 642 Pro is a wonderful gun that shoots very well. Congrats on a great choice!

I have been in FL for almost 15 years and have never seen a fired case in any handgun purchased in that time

I have seen hundreds. Every new handgun has had one.

I got the moon clip model so I could keep one loaded up with rat shot and the others with regular ammo so when I switched between types of ammo I wouldn't have loose rounds rolling around in my pack.

The CCI shot shells won't fit these moon clips so I'll have to pick up some different sized ones.

Congrats on your 642! I have a 442 that is always in the pocket of my jeans. Great carry gun. I'm getting ready to buy a 642 soon to go with it.

I shot some 158 grain old Remington green and red box lead round nose, some Speer TMJ 158's and some home rolled 190 grain Ranch Dog flat point cast over 4 grains of W231. The Ranch Dogs seemed to group the best between rain showers and lightning. I'll shoot more next weekend if I'm not fishing. This place was dusty dry up until early June.
