686 Plus Deluxe question UPDATE
I don't own any Smiths with a lock, so I am not familiar with this iteration of Smiths.
I have been offered one, unfired with box and docs, for $600. It is a 3 inch version. Is it worth $600?

Absolutely, Yes!
I wouldn't even ask him where he got it.

Whether it's worth it to you is subjective. At that price, I doubt you'll lose money on a resale.
The 3" 686 Plus seems to be a perennial favorite as well.
If you get it, please stop back and post your impressions of it's worth to you, after you shoot it.

It's definitely worth that and more, provided it's a well-put-together gun and not one with obvious (or not so obvious) manufacturing flaws that seem to be cropping up in posts about new production guns, as of late. Another way of looking at it could be - if it IS flawed, critically as opposed to superficially, and it's something you missed upon inspection, it's STILL a great deal because you have the warranty and they'll correct any issue; if. I have seen some real nice ones in that exact flavor, or 4", in very good condition but certainly more heavily used go for 50.$ more. So this is where I say the price is great given an unfired LNIB. I'd buy for 6 hundo, after a thorough inspect. Thorough.

Will do. Will probably get it mid September when I can do a face to face.

I just got the gun. It has been fired, but very well cared for, and except for some powder on the front of the cylinder it looks new.
The box says the SKU is 150713. SCSW4th shows that to be a 2010 Talo Dist. model. The prior owner won it at a competition I was at, and I looked at it then and said it looked nice. When she wanted to sell, she called me. I did not know what -# it was, but now that I have it, it is a -6 and is listed as a Talo per the SKU. Does that help or hurt the value?

The Deluxe version is worth a few dollars over the standard version, but the only difference is the wood stocks.
