My 3" Revolvers (or close to).

Today I added an old beat Speed Six from 1973 ($315 and though a little rough on the outside - it shoots real nice). I also have a 65-3, a 66-2, 66-8, a 686-6, and a GP100. I really like that 3" barrel (though the Speed Six and 66-8 are close enough at 2.75").

I am really liking the 2.75" 66-8 which I got 2 or 3 months ago. Like the old Speed Six, it seems the perfect size. The 686-6 is fun too because the weight takes all the the recoil (I mean all).
That said, I shoot them all and have fun. Over the years though I think I have shoot the GP100 the most. It's not collectible, it's tough as nails, it feels good in the hand with the old style compact grips, and the trigger is as good as any.

I have a model 65-3 and a 66-2 both in 3". For me the 3" is perfect. I shoot the 66-2 3" more than any of my other guns. The 65-3 is just as much fun, but my girlfriend has claimed it as hers so I'll just have to "suffer and make do" with the 66.

The old Speed Six was likely a cop gun and though as a general rule cops don't shoot that much, this trigger has the feel of years of smoothing. If I close my eyes it feels just like my 65-3 from 1984. Likewise with my new 66-8 (great new gun!).
Now my best trigger is on an old St Louis detective's snubbie nickel 19-4 (not pictured). Even with factory springs it is a different universe. He told me he had the armorer work on it. Yes he did!

I love my 66-2 as well. The guy who owned it before me though didn't shoot it that much, so I'm still breaking it in! I tend to shoot my new 2.75" 66-8 the most nowadays simply because it too needs breaking in and it can be easily replaced if something goes wrong.
I suspect I will be shooting the 2.75" Speed Six a lot. It was dirt cheap and I have been searching for one for 5 years (when I first got bit by the 3" bug).

I have a Speed Six. Happen to be carrying it today. I've owned it for 40 years and never once thought about selling it. It is a fine gun. The trigger on mine is very smooth but feels a little different than an S&W trigger. In my opinion the Speed Six is as good as an S&W snubbie.

I have one 3" barreled revolver; a Model 60-15. I enjoy it but don't like the sights.
