Default Range Report: First outing with my 629-6 -

Figured I'd start out slowly by using .44 special but when I got to the store and then the range there was none to be found.

So, I literally bit the bullet and bought a box of .44 magnum, 240 gr. JHP. Those diamond Pachmayr's really make a difference because it honestly wasn't as bad as I remembered from years back. I shot up the whole box and was very pleased with my first go-round. Target distance was 25 feet.

Got to work on my finger placement on the trigger and my two-handed grip. There are no rounds on the target under the 629.

I have .44 specials on order.

Here's a picture of my very first .44 mag target, 25 rounds total. Note that many shots went through the group between 8 and 9:00 o'clock.

Thanks for looking!

I load my 44 mag brass to .44 special.. hogdons tightgroup is what I use, never had a single round fail. you don't need any kind of filler. Just make sure you use magnum primers. In fact I load my practice rounds with lead projectiles and when I am almost done I run about 6 rounds of jacketed HP through it and it cleans out the lead real well.

With a short barrel that's a hand full with mag loads, well done.
Nice revolver!
