Started a new project. Resurrecting a 10-10
All the smolt talk got me thinking ( which usually is dangerous). Since model 10's are plentiful I figured I'd make something different (at least searches didn't show one). Picked up this model 10 on an auction site. It's one of the CDC turn ins. This was one with a cracked forcing cone. $120 for a "dead" revolver and I was in. Then I picked up a $50 eBay barrel which has excellent bore and in great shape.
So sorry purists, but I give you, the first?,.......

Me too! That barrel isn't like any Smith barrel I recall seeing. The project looks interesting so far though.

Sorry about that. It's a LLama martial barrel ( thus the s for smith and mama from LLama = smama ). The barrel threads are identical to the smiths. Everyone said the python barrel swap was difficult due to the thread machining. The LLama being the same made it easy

I like the proportions... always hated the Colt grip profile... but loved the look of the Python vent ribbed barrel... so that hits my cool buttons...
bravo...

Neat project, I definitely approve!
What I would really REALLY like to know is what the heck kind of history it has... cracked forcing cone on a K-magnum, okay... but on a Model 10 made in the mid-1990's?
Gotta wonder exactly WHAT ammo and how much of it managed such damage.

When I saw your thread title, I was expecting somebody to be restoring a “beloved” standard M-10 to “factory original.” OTOH, A project gun of the type you built is a perfect outlet for your creative impulses and “no collector potential was lost in the building of this gun.” Looks like a win-win to me!
