New to me! Model 13-3 .357 4"
Hello!
Just thought I would share a new to me model 13-3, .357 with a 4 inch barrel and square butt. I stalked this gun on a popular online gun marketplace in California for a few weeks and couldn't resist.
I know the preferred setup in this model is the old round butt 3 inch FBI issued gun but this one ain't bad. As the owner said he bought this from the original owner who used it for competition shooting until his eye sight got too bad for the fixed sights. It has the typical smooth double Action pull and I can't wait to get it outta the 10 day gun jail...

I gotta bet you're going to like that M13 just fine and then some. A 4" S.B. 13-2 has been my close traveling companion for better than 30 years. Shoots everything from wadcutters to full Keith loads well and has one of the best triggers of any of the dozens I've owned and shot. You've done well ! Congratulations !

That's not surprising. Many knowledgeable shooters prefer a square butt, especially when target shooting heavy loads.

New to me! Model 13-3 .357 4"
I know California prices are different than the rest of the country, but I have been looking at one out here in Texas and have been hesitant to pull the trigger thinking that 650 dollars is on the high side......how does our pricing compare?

If it's mechanically sound, go for it. The 3" Magnums get a "premium," and a 3" 13 is hard to find. They're getting even harder to find at decent prices. But, that's my opinion.

That is what I was thinking, but was under the misguided impression that these could be found for under 600. I am also tempted by a 19-5, 4 inch nickel in my area that is listed for $625. Choices and decisions. Unfortunately, they are different sellers so no package deal.

I'd buy the 13, there are a lot more 19-5s out there. Some even have less of an asking price.

Man, you'll never see a 3" 13 dash anything in St Louis for that money. I'd pay $750 and not blink.

I'm in California and this 13-3 cost $475. This gun is as close to ideal for a bunch of purposes, in my opinion. I usually won't buy a S&W without recessed chambers if they also came recessed, but in this case I don't mind at all.
Your four incher is an excellent shootin' iron. Just think heavy barrel Model 10 in .357. I don't recall seeing it if it's the CA. website I'm thinking of. Deals are out there, but you have to act fast and of course always have a stash of cash ready. I got a 27-2 locally about six years ago also for $475. It binded up D.A. so that cost $100 to fix. Now it wears these shortened cokes I found that Gaitorbaiter here recheckered and cleaned up.

Very nice. Do love the 13's in both configurations, but only have it's seedy cousins, the M65 in 3" and 4".

I saw a 3" 13 for $450 on a local buy and trade site Saturday night around 4AM. Sent them a message asking what the condition was.
Never got a reply, but it was long gone by the time I woke up Sunday.

My LGS has two 4" 13's. They are not pristine but solid and I would like to have both. They are priced at 400.00 each but I seem to be only chasing j-frames anymore so I'm going to pass on them.
