Default Model 69 2.75" first trip to range

These groups were shot at 10 yards using basically a Weaver stance. All single action. I will say that after starting with factory 44mag ammo, the 44spl was like shooting a 38spl.

American Eagle 240 grain JHP. This was not fun. I should have worn gloves.

Hornady 44spl 180 XTP factory.

44 mag brass. 300 grain flat nose cast w/7.5 grains of Unique.

The last two targets are Bitterroot Valley 240 grain 44spl JHP. The last target is ten rounds.

Congratulations on the acquisition.

I reload 44 Magnum but the ammo isn't terrible hot. It's 210 grain JHPs.

I'm getting a 3" 629 this week.

I do not have a 2 3/4. I do have a 4 1/4. I changed my grips to the x frame grip and it made a world of difference when shooting full power loads.(I still shoot mostly mid-range 44 mag. handloads and 44 spec. loads but it does feel better when I change to the heavy loads before heading into bear country) This may not be something you want to do, depending on what your intended use for your new shooter. But it is a thought.

I don't shoot any 44spl in my 44 Magnum revolvers.Cylinder holes are much easier to clean if you only shoot mag cases and OAL at 1.600"

The 44 magnum cases are about the same price as the 44spl cases if you shop around($20/100 Starline).Graf had Winchester 44mag cases for $23/100 recently.Fired ones should be half price or less.

I fired a couple of cylinders of my full on 44 mag handloads from my 2.75" 69 and... enough of that. I'll order a X frame grip if I decide to do any more of that.
I've been playing with CFE-P, HS-6 and W231 with 240gr. plated or coated in 44 mag cases. 800fps range are fun all day shooters but I've noticed as I step it up accuracy gets better and better out of that short barrel.

I'm going to try some spl velocity loads in mag cases. I have lots of jacketed bullets to choose from and some lead. My 300 grain lead load I shoot in my suppressed 77/44 was much stouter than I thought it would be in the 69.
