Price check on a 657-4
Its a 657-4, so mim hammer, trigger, no pinned barrel , non recessed. 6 inch barrel, (maybe 6 1/2 Im not sure). Factory houge rubber, round butt.Pre lock. No box or papers. In great shape. Local guy wants $800 for it. Id probably have to buy a set of dies so I could load for it. 41 ammo is hard to find here and very pricey when I see it. Is it worth 800 or is it too high. Maybe worth more ? I dont see many 41 mags around here

That would be a 6" barrel
The 6" is a great length for the 57/657
$800 with no box, that is probably more than I would want to spend, but not necessarily out of line. I would have to really, really like it at that price, but then I already have several 57/357/657 revolvers.
BTW, 657s were never pinned or recessed. The Model 657 was introduced after those attributes were eliminated

If you really want a 41 that price is about "right". I have a 657-3 and I don't think I'd take that for mine. Great guns in a great caliber. And yeah you need to load for them. The 41 is the caliber that started me re-loading back in 1983.

That is about top end price wise.
For that it had better be very clean. Really nice gun though. I have one and I am very happy with it. And you should consider that you do not see them every day.

Did you try to negotiate the price? Worth trying. What is the worse thing that can happen? Bob

Maybe you can play a bit on the fact that .41mag are in less demand than .44.I just turned down one like that at same price since I bought a 629 last year for $700.Try negociating a bit cause they're fine shooters.Good luck!

Like you said, they don't come up for sale very often. It's not the highest price I have seen. How bad do you want a 41 Magnum?
