Default Took My 586 L-Comp Out Today

I had 100 rounds of some 3-D Police Wadcutter Ammo from the 1980s left. I picked up 1000 rounds about 3 years ago. I think Academy Sports found a few palates somewhere and were selling 50 round boxes for $10.

I haven't spent any quality time with my favorite S&W Wheelgun for a while. This one was made in 2007 and had the action tuned in a very major way. The DA trigger pull on this gun is 5lbs. I have never felt a trigger like this on any other revolver. It is mind blowing. I wish you could all shoot a 7-round cylinder full!

I have also really enjoyed having these wadcutters around. They are a lot of fun to shoot. They make these awesome round holes! I don't think I will be finding any more 50 round boxes of wadcutters for 10 bucks anymore in this life! Wadcutters are pretty darn expensive.

Anyway here are some pictures of my groups from today. What a sweet shooting revolver!

Nothing wrong with the finish on the cylinder, it's just dirty from shooting cheap reloaded lead ammo from the 80s!

I am right there with you on love for the L-comp. Mine has a ramp front with a tiny useless tritium dot which I promptly covered with red sight paint. Run some targets back to 25 yards and you will be amazes at what short barreled revolvers can do.
BTW Those grips really look good on that gun. Ahrends?

That must have a sweet trigger or you have sweet trigger control or both!
Stunning revolver and excellent shooting!
Nice on both

Interesting to see the small changes to the L-Comp over the years. I see both of yours have a beveled cut on the front of the underlug, my new one doesn't have that. They also stopped including the chamfered charging holes on the cylinder.

Yeah, I think those changes are a shame. The undercut really sets the gun apart from the others. I bought this gun used a few years back without know the new ones were different.

I'm glad I went the used route. The gun was tuned for a well known shooting competitor by a well-known gunsmith. He never used it. He sold it to the guy I bough it from who never used it either. I got a dam deal on it too!

I have no idea why anyone would ever sell a revolver that has a trigger on it like this. Not many gunsmiths could tune the trigger/action the way this gun is tuned. I have shown this gun to couple of gunsmiths I respect, and even they have never seen anything like it.

Yes Ahrends grips. Make sure you buy an older one. They made a bunch of changes some time around 2010. You can tell because the front of the underlug on the new ones is NOT cut at an angle. They don't chamfer the cylinder anymore either.

The original factory sight was terrible. Same on all of them through the years. Black front and rear sights, but the front supposedly has a tritium dot in it. It is the size of a pinhead and utterly useless. I don't love black front and rear sights. I do love black rear and FO front

They are great guns and I have not found any grips that I like better than the Ahrends Combats (same as the OP)...

Beautiful 586's here. Anyone know if S&W will sell that trigger with the trigger stop separately?

Best bet is to call customer service and give them the model number of the gun. They will look it up and tell you the part number. Then they will tell you if they sell it.

If not, check with Numrich Parts.

I re-barreled my L-comp to 4". Added 1" in length, but picked up an inch and a half of pipe, carries the same to me. I did not like the comp or the front sight.
