Default A slight bit of assistance, please?

Folks, I took a slight walk on the wild side. All of my revolvers have some degree of blue finish. At the moment, I carry my 36-6 when I can carry, but I don't want to risk either the finish, or lose it if I have to use it. Therefore, I have a S&W Model 686+ 3" on the way to replace the 36-6 in the rotation.

Being a realist, I acknowledge that the grips could get damaged, so I plan to put other wood grips on it. I am eying up two pairs of combats, one in Walnut and the other in Rosewood. I have nothing here to make a visual comparison. If you have a stainless Smith revolver with either a walnut or rosewood grip, could you please post a picture so that I can see the contrast? In my mind's eye, I vaguely remember seeing a Model 60 with walnut grips back in the '60s, but nothing recently.

Thank you for your help!

Stainless steel revolvers are enhanced by dark wood. That is my personal opinion, of course, and I've been wrong before.

I put Ahrends boot grips on my 3" 686. I was able to get a set of coco bolo grips, which is a variety of rosewood. Thanks to international intrigue, coco bolo is now listed as "endangered" and no longer available. It has been replaced, more or less, by moradillo wood, which I find nearly as attractive.

I prefer both to american walnut, which lacks the pronounced grain, luster and undertones, and has rather coarse, open grain.

Ahrends Grips : Woods

My favorite for a blue SAA is walnut or simulated ivory, never pearl. because I think it looks more historical.
