I run 2 dehumidifiers. Both set at 50% humidity. I've not had any issues with my firearms.

I have one of those very-low-current heaters in my main safe, but nothing in the other. RIG is what I count on. That and no contact with porous materials. That worked for me in Norfolk summer and winter in a storage shed, several years.

This is the back instructions on a Digital Hygrometer that I keep in my safe. I have a Eva Dry hanging in it and the RH stays around 50% during the summer.

Coastal Virginia is another word for humidity. I keep my safe door open for a few hours every day. My AC keeps the humidity down. Never have any problems.

Default Humidifier Setting

In my full basement, about the best I can get is 62% on my two hygrometers with the humidifier itself set on 45%-50%. No rust problems as yet but 62% seemed a little high to me for
Norther Illinois location.

Mine runs 45 to 50%. In addition to the goldenrod, I have 4 or 5 damp rid containers on the various shelves. Change out the damp rid 3 or 4 times a year. One refill bag is enough to fill all the containers.

I'm surrounded by saltwater. A couple of rechargeable silica devices in each safe. No issues.

I know this is the start of the dreaded thread drift, but here goes.
I use a very secure footlocker for my gun storage. I place all my handguns in silicon tread Crown Royal bags with silica packs in each bag. Then the bags are placed in silicone treated "gun rugs" then place two silica packs in each gun rug. Finally I scatter more silica packs in the locker. Never had any problems with rust so far.
