Default 1981 Box Label Deciphering Help

For those of you who speak fluent Smith & Wesson ...

Is there a date code on either of these two labels?

If so, what is the date?

Thanks for the help!

Unless it's in the top line of your bottom pic, I'm going to say no. When S&W went to the computer generated end label in the early to mid 80's is when you see the date code (in a Julian Date format) under the SPC. ORD. code. Be advised that I've seen SPC. ORD. codes that exceed 365 days in the year so it's not always the boxing date seen there.

Mid 81 is my guess but you should have your letter from Mr Jinks pretty soon.

The boxes with the hand written labels didn't have a date code. Even the boxes with the earliest fully computer printed labels, from the 1981 - 1982 era, didn't have them. It wasn't until some time in 1983 when Spec. Ord. date codes started to become common.
