Sunday Gun Show Find
Last day of the Big Reno Show and found a new, or close to it,
625-6 45 Colt Mountain Gun. It's a gun I've wanted for a while, but passed on a couple at prior shows. The seller claimed it's unfired, but not 100% sure - not that it really matters. Although there's no obvious turn line, it had been magnaported, also a non-issue with me. Not sure what the current market is, but I figured $1k wasn't out of line, and it's $250 below what he was originally asking. Been a good show...

Congratulations on a finding a GREAT revolver
Mine is from the same batch, but a bit younger than yours. The Mag-Na-Porting on yours was done after it left the factory.
The Mountain Guns in 45 Long Colt are sweet pieces
I admit I changed out the rubber grips for the old Factory Combats on mine. Other than that they have remained bone stock original

Nice guns!
Thanks for the info, I figured it was done later, but I am content with that.
I recently snagged a very nice 25-15 that was wearing the vintage combats, but not caring for the solvent-sensitive bluing, the IL and MIM, I kept the combats and sold the gun.
Today's seller had two 625 MG, one had the IL/MIM, and this one. Not sure what they're currently going for, but I thought 1k was fair for this model.

I think you got a great deal at 1K. I would not let mine go for that and I have the princely some of $250 in mine. (Its a long story).

Thanks, I had fun shopping.
Definitely not a lawyer, nor do I have a JD.
As an aside, in every country other than the USA, a first law degree is an LLB (Bachelor of Laws/legum). In the USA law schools conferred LLBs until the mid 60s before changing the degree to a JD - I think circa '71, Yale was the last school to confer an LLB. Kind of a non sequitur since a 4th year of law school will get you an LLM or Master of Laws) - for the rest of us it took 5-6 years to earn a masters, and an additional 4-7 years for our doctorates. There are, however, true academic doctorates in law, but they are not law degrees (probably can't be a lawyer), i.e., Doctor of Juridical Science, Doctor of Jurisprudence, Doctor of Philosophy, and a Doctor of Comparative Law. From what I understand, the ABA had the degree changed to make attorneys feel better about themselves when hanging around their friends with real doctorates.

S&W Model 625-6 45 Colt Mountain Gun
Congratulations on the purchase of your
new S&W Model 625-6 45 Colt Mountain
Gun.
That's what I paid for mine too, only mine
was used, no Box/paperwork, and has been
handled, but not shot much. I baby it and
shoot 5-10 rounds every week.
Just got back from the Indoor Range, shooting
mine. Working on a new Reload for Bear
Defense. RCBS 270 SAA Lead Semi Wad Cutter
Bullet/Hodgdon Long Shot 9.5grs (Handloader
Apr'07 #246 page 14)/CCI Large Pistol #300
Primer/Starline Brass/FPS 959?/14,000psi.
Loaded 2 rounds and tried them out; not bad and
a little bit more kick then my plinking/every day
load. Primers looked just a hair little flatter, no
where near total flat with case. I was happy, so
I just loaded 8 more 270s for tomorrow to try.
Hope you enjoy your MG as much as I do.
My 629 44Mag and 625 45Colt MGs below.

My master's was 90 hours, but programs really vary these days. Definetely not what they used to be. I have a chiropractor buddy - 3 years of school and no undergrad. A glorified masseuse and not as effective. However, he's a gun crank
Forgot to add that an undergrad is not a requirement to get into most law schools, even ABA schools. Just need 60 hours and take the baby bar at the end of the first year. Most of my closest friends are attorneys so we've had this discussion more than a few times. In CA, you can sit for the bar after a 5-year apprenticeship, and having never set foot in law school - never known anyone to go that route, however.

Yep!
Don't know, I am not the original owner. However, Magnaport did do a lot of work for Smith during that era, so who knows. I am fine with it on this gun.

Like those grips, too!.........smmmoooooth!
I found one last year that is CEPxxxx, 99% in the box.
Had to give exactly $1003 for it and worth every penny.
I changed the rubber grips to wood as well.

You're on a roll. I gotta admit, I'm a little envious of that one.
Congratulations!

Definitely a productive show. I am glad the next Big Show isn't until November, I need a break. The smaller shows are much less rigorous...usually.
