Hello everybody.
Today is a great day for me because my 586-3 is at home with magtech amos. I recieve the authorization to have my 586 with amos at home. I know for you Americans it's easy to do that but in France it's a long way. Fortunately I waited only seven months to have the green flag of the French authorities, for a civilians they must stay until two years after shooting in a club with 22LR or air guns....Im so happy and wish to share my happiness with you....

I'm one of many L-frame fans on this site that understand your enthusiasm. Hopefully ammo is easy to acquire, because you probably will want to shoot it a lot.

Enjoy, and don't forget we like pictures and range reports.

Congratulations on finally getting to have your revolver and ammo at your home. It's often hard for Americans to imagine all the paperwork and extended wait times that Europeans have to endure in order to enjoy the freedoms so many of us take for granted.

Encore une fois, félicitations. J'espère que vous appréciez votre revolver au maximum. Excusez aussi mon pauvre français.

Congrats on getting a great revolver. I own a 586, incredible shooter, beautiful to behold.

Seven months!! And I think our ten day wait in California is outrageous...

The ungodly gun laws you endure in your country are exactly what elected officials in the "People's Republic of Kalifornia" dream of having.

For cleaning the bore, you can use the same as 9mm, or .380, or .38spl.

Target ammo I like 158gr FMJ, in .357 or .38Spl.
Self-defense I like 125gr hollow point.
Woods walks for wild animals, 180gr hardcast or 180gr Federal Swift A-frame.

Well bad starts with my 586.
Saturday, two weeks ago, the first shooting session after 3 barrels I meet a great problem to open the barrel... The extractor rod was unscrewed...
I screw it and last saturday after only one barrel I meet great difficulties to pull back the hammer....I must pull back the thumberpiece few than one mm to pull back the hammer. A gunsmith of the tank school open my 586 this afternoon. He s a famous specialist of Manurhin and discover that the extractor rod is distorted and so a little bit shorter and so play a role with the safety... I must order a new brand extractor rod..
A British friend will fly in October to Fairfax VA and he bring me back the rod Who knows a good armory shop which I can pay with paypal ?
A link ?
Thank you

All of us are very interested in hearing about gun ownership and use in countries other than America. We would like to help you. In this age of the internet, there are very few physical shops that still stock the parts you need. Most of us order this type of thing from some companies such as Brownells, or Numrich, or First Gun Parts, or Popperts. Actually the best place for the part you described is S&W Customer Service. Call them first, the phone number is on their website. They may be able to make an international sale. If not perhaps your part could be shipped to wherever your friend is visiting in the USA. A word of caution though, S&W sends out parts on a mysterious time schedule known only to them. I called in and ordered some grips offered on their website and didn't receive them until a year later. Best of luck and let us know how things go.

I don't know if they take PayPal, but Gun Parts Corp (Numrich) has parts for your 586-3. You can correspond with them and see what forms of payment they do take. Here is a link for you to the parts page for your 586-3 revolver.

Your gun laws are holdovers from the Middle Ages when the higher ups did not trust the surfs. Looks like to me with all the trouble that you have had with the Germans in times past that you could own any firearm that you could afford for the defense of your country as well as you and your family. Remember what the Japs said about invading the United States? And now you face a growing terrorist threat. Glad you got your 586. Get it fixed and be ready.

Here is a URL for a French Brownells website: www.brownells.fr. They say there is even a local representative to help. Good luck!

Well I can see that you understnad my english language it's was difficult to describe my problem. I report to you soon about the fix.
Thank you for the links I need first paypal it's so easy to purchase stuffs in USA.
To Black 1970 : Interesting post but it's not the subject.. but we can have a discussion about that. But you refer to the middle ages....everybody held a weapon during this period...as today in USA.
I know Brownells.fr but the delay is to much long and the prices higher than in USA,I have a great help with my British friend. The delevery adress is in USA, its great.

The simplest way to handle payment would be to send your British friend some cash via PayPal prior to his trip. My brother lives in the Fairfax area and can probably get me the names of some shops, so perhaps I can help out there. This should not be an expensive or hard to find part. When is your friend going to be traveling to the US?

I'm rather fond of my 686, so I'm sure you I'll find it worth your time and effort to get your 586 "up and running." BTW, in the first post you mention "amos." Did you mean "ammo" (ammunition?) If this is your question, my advice is to find the least expensive 38 Special ammo with either lead wadcutter or semi-wadcutter bullets for practice, training and casual range time, then a good grade of jacketed hollow points for home defense, etc. Here in the US I'm blessed with the abundant availability of reloading supplies and equipment, so I just load what I want. In my experience, 38/357 is one of the easiest cartridges to reload. Is this a possibility for you in France as well?

International regards,
Froggie

I don't know about power, but I reckon that vehicle holds the road better than just about any I've seen.

Awesome !
I read the title " Home Sweat Home" and thought your electricity had been knocked out by a hurricane and it's been in the 90's around here.
I'm glad that's not the case.
Your 586 with ammo....very nice !

Hey Green Frog thank you for your proposition and advices, I can transfer cash to my British friend why not but I think not that I ll have time to get in a armory Ill ask him.
I shoot only 357 mag with my 586, the German Geco amos are strong. I think that at first ill use manufactured amos because Ill be transferd to Middle East next June. Ill see the reload later.

Yes it's very easy to reload in France with Hornady or Lee presses, the law and the procedure are very hard at first to become an Handgun owner, and you must be in an association. We are lucky in France, it's really harder in UK for example.

Froggie froggie froggie .......are you French ????

The flag is the 3rd Confederate. My Great-Great Uncle, 1st LT. Marcus Cherry served in Wilson's Cav. Army of the Tennessee under Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest. He fought at Hookers Bend, the Battle of Memphis, and was wounded in the battle of Harrisburg Mississippi July 17 and 18 1864. I am a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Look them up on Google. As far as the statues of Confederate Soldiers are concerned, all of a sudden some people are offended by them so they want them taken down. There is a whole lot of stuff that offends me but I keep my mouth shut. Note to Mods.-The guy asked about the flag. Just answering. And yes it is my own car.
