Default New to me 69-with range report

Well there I was thinking (not always a good thing ), You know know I dont currently own a handgun in .44. I thought I might get something in .44sp as I don't really have a need for a magnum. Didn't want to spend a ton of $$. Thought about a Rossi 720, but suddenly there are none available (found 1 but the seller wouldn't ship), no way on a taurus. The Carter Arms are good guns I have heard but I think pricey for the target models. Well there I was on GB and found this 69 for a reasonable BIN and oooppppssss I hit the BIN button. Hope to have it by the end of the week of so. I got to be careful in my thinking.

PS. I found a leftover box of .44mag in my ammo stash so I will pop off at least a few full house rounds.

Better to spend your time clicking the "buy now" button on gun things than clicking around on adult oriented sites I suppose.

Congratulations on your purchase.

I recommend using 44 magnum cases in the Model 69 if you are going to reload for it.

A 240gr LSWC over 5.0gr of Bullseye powder is a really nice fun target load for your trips to the range.

A stouter target load in the 44 magnum cases would be 8.5gr of Unique over the 240gr hard cast LSWC.

Took the gun to the range today for a shakedown cruise. Shot 50 specials and 25 or so mid range magnums. Gun is a *****cat with the specials and a little snappy with the magnums. Part of the issue with the magnums is the stock grips are too small for me. I have a set of the pachmayr diamond pros on order. Gun was pretty accurate, I wasn't shooting for groups today but had no trouble scaring and breaking clay pigeons out at the 50 yard line. Next trip after the new grips come.

I don't have huge hands (mens large glove), but if you have bigger hands you will probably want new grips. Great gun
