Default S&W 629-4 6.5" DX - Identification help needed

Hi guys,

first: Thanks to all of you giving me the possibility to read for quite some time in this forum and learn a lot about revolvers.

I recently got the chance to buy a 629-4 6.5" DX with full underlug. A nice gun which I really like to shoot on the range.

Now I'd like to find out the production year of my DX.

I can provide the following data:

629-4 6.5" barrel with full underlug. Serial number is BSU6316

Thanks in advance & best regards from Berlin, Germany

Kai

It would of left Springfield, Massachusetts in......

April - May 1995.

If it's a Classic DX the product code would be 103644. That number would be on the factory box label.

It looks like this gun has a trigger mounted over travel stop. Maybe I'm mistaken, but that's a feature I don't normally see on the DX of that era.

Thanks for your reply...

Unfortunately I got no factory box, so no product code available.

I mailed S&W directly to see if they can help regarding the feature. Their reply: The revolver was built in 4/2005.

Now I am confused...
