Default 37 years old and never been loved

I've been feeling the "need" for a new mistress lately. I wasn't sure why or exactly "what" but I was thinking something classically styled, deeply blued and long in the barrel. Been shopping the net (for a model 27 maybe?) but nothing jumped out at me.
So I walk into my LGS yesterday, and there she was laying there seductively on top of her box in the front of the glass case. She had been consigned that AM from the original owner who purchased it in 1981 ( and then put her away). Turns out , this 10-7 sweetheart was not only unfired in the box but she didn't even have a turn ring! It took me all of 7 seconds to know this is exactly what I had been looking for.
It's almost going to be a shame to shoot her but after 37 years of waiting, it's got to be done.

Guns were built to shoot, it is a shame to safe-queen them.

Every safe queen I bought was listed for sale the same day I bought them.

I would shoot them and lose value within a week. Better to make a few dollars to support my shooting habit.

Isn't it amazing you put something in thought and there ya go. It was put right in front of you. I don't believe in coincidence.
That perfect gun has got to be the most amazing demonstration of thought in perfect action.

I had a similar thing happen to me. I wanted a rifle similar to an AR but in 22lr. I was at an LGS and I said I would like to find that type of gun. The salesman said he just happened to have one come in that morning.
The rifle was a S&W M&P 15-22 in the original box with the sales receipt when it was bought at the same LGS a year earlier. The gun is like new.

I am a believer.

There's only one thing wrong with that revolver: it hasn't been shot yet (since the factory, anyway). I'm sure you'll remedy that, directly.

37 years old hey?Well I'm 63 and it is a well known fact that older guys are attracted by younger.....but let's not get on that slippery slope(my wife might read this).
I'd shoot it again and again and again and.....you get the point I'm sure.

Congrats! About a month ago I stumbled on an unfired 10-5 snubby from 1966. Put in the box and never fired. You could see the grease/oil build up on the one cylinder face that was test fired at the factory. Enjoy the maiden voyage!!!

Right on! I won't own a firearm that I can't/won't/afraid to shoot... I take meticulous care of all of my guns but I don't baby them and they get shot, a lot. Then they are cleaned within a day of shooting them and stored high and dry in my safe.

OP, go shoot that 37 year old virgin and enjoy her!

Thanks for the kind words. Just got done loading up a fresh batch of 147 gr wad cutters. Hope to get to the range tomorrow. I'll post pics of the results if all goes as planned.

BTW, lock up on this particular gun is noteable. Everything is super tight.

That is so nice. I've been staring at the pic, experiencing a 'tingle'. For some reason it never entered my mind that there are long barreled Model 10s; but why not?

Since you can't take it with you, shoot it! Although I have made my wife promise to have me buried with at least one gun for use in the afterlife. :-)

I hear you. To be honest, I've only seen a few 6" mod 10's in person. I always associated them with shorter barrels , myself. I think that's a big reason why I was so smitten with this one.

I have a good (older) friend that swears he is going to be buried with some of his most prized guns when the time come. Late at night, after he leaves the club, we plot to dig him up :-) He should know better than to tell us!

Funny you say that, I have his name (and former address) from the original sales precept that was included in the box. He paid $143 for it in 1981 :-)

The Model 15 seems to be better suited to a 6" barrel, until I think of the SA Army and all its look-likes. At least a minor accident with the 10 won't knock the rear sight out of line.

I have a couple of older model 10's , but I must say that 6" barrel is outstanding.

If you ever decide to carry it and the barrel is too long, I will be more than happy to trade and help you out
