610-2
I got one in a trade not to long ago, and was thinking I might sell it as I'm not really into big heavy long barreled N frames. I took it out to range again today, it's second time. Dang this thing is accurate, as good or better than a good K38 from '53 shooting wad cutters. Appears it likes full throttle loads. Might have to rethink keeping this one, accurate revolvers are interesting.

I have a 610 in 4" which I shoot, on occasion, in IDPA competition. Mine is also very accurate, much more accurate than I can hold.

Very nice I wouldn't part with it. That specific model never comes up for sale out here in AZ that I've ever seen

I have the old 4" 610 Classic, with the non fluted barrel. I never liked this gun, and have never had much luck shooting it. The action binds-up, and sometimes it can't be shot double action. I've heard that it was an issue with the moon clip thickness, I cant understand that. I've neither the time, patience, or money, to work it out. So back into the closet with it for another 10 years. Maybe my son will figure it out someday.

Would you mind posting a picture of the end label. I just won the one I was bidding on without a box, also an identical 610-2 and it would be nice to see the product code and such, or pm it to me, I dont mind if you block your serial number

I also have a non fluted cylinder 3 7/8" 610-2. I have fired it more than any other revolver in timed matches and done very well. While it is a wee bit faster to reload with moon clipped .45s I like competing with a gun that no one else at the match has. Compared to .45 ACP a non-reloader would save quite a bit buying the .40 S&Ws I compete with.
Mine left S&W with a hand the top of which fit VERY tight between the ratchet teeth and frame nearly binding its DA. I stoned a few molecules off its thickness with an extra fine hard Arkansas stone. That fixed it. While I can not diagnose yours with out it in hand it would not hurt to inspect the hand fit. However, all moon clips can be bent while loading or unloading them and bent clips are the most common cause of binding cylinder rotation and missfires.

If you are using reloads in your 610 I discovered that if the brass is range brass shot out of certain semi autos the cases bulge ever so slightly near the bottom and the sizing die won't remove it. If you load up a moon clip with one of these in the revolver the cylinder will close but the gun will act like you have a round with a high primer or bent moon clip (double action binding). Took me a while before I figured out what the problem was.

I think for now I will keep it, I am in CA so it is even rarer here and none could be imported in.. I have 1K in it so I'm good. No issues with this one, 40's with moon clips or 10mm without. Justintyme, I do not have an original case, it is correct but a new one without the label. To me this would be a hunting revolver, just way big to carry. I have another odd ball S&W, the 357PD in 41 Magnum. That one is a joy to carry for a couple of weeks hunting. I am using new Starline brass, have come across range brass from a Glock, but the bulge...

Nice, but if I am going to drop big coin on a 610, it'll be on a prelock/pre MIM example. Just sayin'

Yep lots of folks say that........ Why I don't know, I have never had an issue with MIM parts nor has anyone I have known. At least it is pre lock. Again I have never had an issue with the lock either, although I do not like them. What ever trips your trigger.

I feel the same way, no love for the lock, although I have a 610-3 with one that I love. MIM is not a problem for me at all. I do like the interchangeable front sight on these. smithrjd, I like the .41 mag to, currently have a 57, and a 657, but never have had a 357 PD, that would be an interesting .41

I have a 610 no dash with a long barrel. It doesn't get to the range as often as it should(but the same can be said for most of my guns) but I have to say it rates high on the fun gun scale, right in there with my 57-1. I hand load for it and shoot a lot of 40 S&W through it also. It is just plain fun and the recoil, especially with 40s is like shooting a .22.
