Default New 686-6 Plus follows me home

My local GS had in it's monthly flyer some decent deals on Smith & Wesson firearms. I haven't purchased a new S&W revolver in 35 years, no kidding. So I went in GS with the intention of purchasing either a 686 Plus 4.125", 586 4", or M66 Combat Magnum 4.25". All were selling @ $679.99ea.

I won't get into thoughts of each, but the 686 Plus had the nicest trigger of all three revolvers, hands down. Plus it's weight was between the M66 and 586. Couldn't tell much of a width difference from the 586 that stood out.

Tomorrow range and pictures. Oh, and since I spent over $500 it came with a large S&W range bag, and Safe Lock portable gun safe. Think I did well.

Made it to the range today with my new 686-6 Plus. I only was shooting off hand from the 10yd line. An assortment of 357 and 38spl ammo. I am pleased how well this revolver handles the full house loads recoil, and pretty darn accurate to boot.

My only downside is the grips. I have large hands and the S&W rubber grips are just a little to narrow/small for my hands (the 586 target grips I handled earlier were to large for my liking). Guess I'll do some research and find something in the future.

And free S&W range bag. It will come in handy.

I put Hogue Mono Grips on my 686. Better speed loader space than the target grips. The grips you have on yours now look they have even more speed loader clearance. With 7 rounds in a speed loader, that might be a good thing.
Anyway congrats and enjoy.

If they would get rid of the internal lock, I'd order one right now.

I got me a 686-6 as well. Its beautify built and so far has performed flawlessly. It's a worthy companion to my 686-5 and 686-4.

And what S&W grip name are those revolver686? They look a little smaller than the standard S&W target grips. Thx!

Wow, what discipline!! Some of us here buy 35 S&W's a year! Not to worry, you'll soon catch up now that you've got started with a nice one ;-)

Thank you, revolver686. The Altai (AH) grip style looks like the ticket for me. Not sure which design I'll go with as long as it has S&W logo. The original Hogue rubber with finger grooves doesn't fit my hands to my liking. Sorry S&W.........

Nice choice. I smile every time I load 7 rounds into the cylinder of mine. I went with Hogue Bantam's which for some reason fit my XL hands perfectly.
