Custom M64 range report
Some of y'all will remember these threads:
Range report - Smith 64 "Airweight" Custom, Semi-Fitzed Snubby
It has arrived - Smith 64 'Airweight' Custom, Semi-Fitzed Snubby
Well, we tinkered a little with this Model 64, tightened the strain screw, cleaned it really well and VOILA!!!! No more light strikes, three or four different kinds of ammunition, range ammo/FMJ, high quality defense ammo/HP/Hornady Lite, etc., old ammo, too, dated from 2009 and 2010. It consumed every round, put the bullets where they belonged, and just performed flawlessly. What a great EDC!!!!

I'm starting to not like you!! If that's the 64 with the checkered backstrap - the work is beautiful! I have a little-bit-of-a-beater 64 that will hopefully go to him this winter ... after I pay off insurance deductibles for some recent surgery ...

BTW, that gorgeous checkering is a little rough on your hands if you are not used to handling rough objects. You might ask him to make yours a little less sharp. It's not all that big a deal but after a couple of hundred rounds on the range you kind of really start to notice it. In a gunfight it would probably be very useful! OTOH, it "feels" rough after a few boxes of ammunition but it doesn't leave a mark.

"Old ammo" is usually pre WWII. I've got unopened cases from the 20th century. Every time I break one open, empty brass goes flying. Joe

HA! I meant old as in not purchased last week. I gave away all my really old ammo to a collector years ago. If I consider it collectible I won't keep it around; I let other folks enjoy these types of things. But that is a funny reply!!
