I bet it'll be your favorite ... mine is certainly my favorite (of all my guns of all types). Put a X500 recoil-absorbing grip on it ... makes even full-spec Underwoods comfortable.

I have a 4.25" 69 that I picked up a few weeks ago - I'm enjoying it immensely and suspect you will, too!

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine. One of my favorite handgun calibers/platforms. I have both 4 1/4" and 2 3/4" models. I've had two 4 1/4" since early 2014 and have put over 8,000 rnds down range. For me, the S&W 500 X Frame Hogue grips significantly reduce felt recoil with magnum ammo.

Product: Model 500 Impact Absorbing Hogue Square Butt Conversion Grips

FWIW

Paul

I like to load a heavy special in magnum cases for mine.
Keeps the scunge out of the chambers that way.
Light to medium mags are nice too.
Congratulations!

I just picked up my 2.75". FWIW, the gun looks flawless out of the box. Nice SA trigger, smooth on DA too. Will get it on the range today with a "moderate" magnum load.

Looks like 2 shots were done at the factory. SOP on a 5 shot cylinder?

Range report: 240 gr cast and 14.7 gr AA 7, starting load according to the book. The little fellow kicks up pretty good - but not painful to the hand. Would guess the MV is around 1000 fps, enough to move the steel plates with gusto. Don't know if it's worthwhile going heavier, the noise and blast would increase a lot more than the velocity I think.

Next will be some wadcutter loads - 185 gr bullets at around 850 fps. See what groups I can get on paper.

Do any of you concealed carry your model 69. I have been wanting a 44 special for a while. I have thought I wanted to try and carry it. Is this a reasonable expectation. The 2.75 in barrel is what I had been waiting for (because of CC), but I also want to shoot it at the range. I carry a Model 60 no dash all of the time but occasionally carry my Model 659 so I understand the weight issue.

Every day, from pajamas-off until pajamas-on, in a homemade under-the-shirt cloth vertical shoulder holster. Comfortable, convenient, and very well concealed.

I got one yesterday. I think you made a good choice. I once had a Redhawk, loved it, but it was just too big. K/L frames have always been my favorite. Ahrends have always been a perfect grip match for my hand. I couldn't make it to the range today, so am very interested to try it with with various special and magnum loads. I really like the size, I once had a 27 and didn't like the size, but this 69 really seems to work for me. I have a 22-4 that I really like, but .45 acp is a little different than the N frame 27/29. This 69 is quickly becoming one of my favorites; the five round vs six doesn't mean so much to me, after all, I have Seven j- frames.

I have a Redhawk too, like you I like it but it to big.I really like the 69 because it's a 5 shot. and that makes it smaller.
