Default WTK: 24-3 4-inch

How common is a 4" Mod 24-3? This model piques my interest, ideally the 4" but most I encounter are 3". Any info is appreciated.

If memory serves there were 2,500 made in about 1982-83 in 4". Another of the items that slipped through my fingers.

Buford57 is pretty close, there were 2625 made with 4" barrels and 4875 made with the 6.5" barrels. I'm not sure about the Lew Horton guns with the 3" barrels and round butts.
The 4" guns command a premium and any Model 24-3 sells quickly for pretty good money these days. I found this one at a show about 5 years ago. After we made the deal I asked the seller if he had a gun rug for it and he said nope but here's the box.

Do you shoot that? With what ammo? Do you reload?

I read that there's a problem with either these or the stainless M-624, something about oversized (?) cylinder throats? How does your gun shoot?
