Default hammer question: 60-9 vs 640

rhave a s&w 60-9 357 mag, and i wanted to bobb hammer! but want to save original!! so i was thinking would a 640 hammer (same as 60-9, but hammerless model) work on a 60-9 or buy another 60-9 hammer and bobb it? does any know or done this, maybe even with other model hammer, etc....thanks

btw...both 60-9 and 640 have free floating firing pins!

I haven't bobbed the hammer of my 60 Pro Series, but I did on my 637-2. I bought a new hammer for around $50 from Midway and cut the hammer spur off of it and saved the original hammer.

The same hammer would fit the Model 60 if I recall. My 637 can still be fired SA by catching the hammer spur on the way back if I want to make a precision shot. Hope this helps!
